RMM’s Tāmaki Makaurau Studio Welcomes Back Daniel
Jan 23, 2025
We are excited to welcome Daniel Watt as the newest member of our Tāmaki Makaurau studio! Daniel joined RMM in January 2025 after completing his Bachelor of Landscape Architecture (BLA) at Lincoln University, where he demonstrated both exceptional talent and an inspiring commitment to the profession.
From Ōtautahi to Tāmaki Makaurau
Daniel first became part of the RMM whānau as a summer intern in the Ōtautahi studio during 2023-2024, where his motivation and creativity stood out. Growing up in Christchurch, surrounded by the Heathcote River and the Port Hills, Daniel developed a deep connection to the landscapes around him, sparking his passion for creating designs that connect people to place.
Academic Excellence
For his final-year university project, Daniel explored resilience in Franz Josef, focusing on sustainable small-scale urban development within highly dynamic environments. His project tackled the interconnected challenges of the town with innovative, place-responsive design solutions and earned him the NZILA Vectorworks Landmark Student Scholarship for 2024.
Passion For Innovation and Connection
Daniel is passionate about pushing the boundaries of landscape architecture, integrating new technologies, software, materials, and construction methods to achieve forward-thinking designs. His work reflects a meticulous attention to detail and a commitment to celebrating the unique character of each site, unveiling the past layers of the landscape to create meaningful, sustainable spaces.
Beyond the Studio
Outside of work, Daniel enjoys playing cricket and being part of a team—bringing the same collaborative energy and drive to his work at RMM.
Please join us in welcoming Daniel back to the RMM team! We can’t wait to see the creativity, innovation, and dedication he will bring to our projects.
