RMM Ōtautahi Welcomes Ella
Jun 03, 2026
Ella has recently joined the RMM team in our Ōtautahi studio as a Graduate Landscape Architect. She is looking forward to contributing to projects across a range of scales and typologies, bringing a thoughtful approach shaped by landscape architecture, environmental management, and hands-on conservation experience.
Academic & Professional Background
Originally from Te Tai Tokerau, Ella has a strong connection to Aotearoa’s coastal and natural environments. She completed her Master of Landscape Architecture with First Class Honours at Lincoln University and also holds a Bachelor of Applied Science in Environmental Management and Marine Science.
Ella has experience working across residential, subdivision, commercial, and large-scale development projects throughout Aotearoa. She has contributed to landscape plans and planting designs for resource consent applications, alongside landscape and visual assessments and supporting documentation.
Design Interests
Ella is particularly interested in projects where ecological thinking and careful design go hand in hand. Her strengths include ecological and amenity planting design, plan drawing, and translating planning requirements into clear, buildable outcomes. Her approach is informed by experience in conservation, ecological restoration, and Department of Conservation roles, with a focus on supporting biodiversity, responding sensitively to place, and strengthening people’s connection to landscapes through thoughtful, understated design.
Beyond the Studio
Outside of work, Ella spends most of her time outdoors rock climbing, biking, skiing, surfing, or out on the water whenever possible. She also enjoys pottering in the garden at home. As a long-term project, Ella is converting a 4WD ex-ambulance into a campervan, turning it into a home-on-wheels for future climbing trips and off-grid adventures.
We’re delighted to welcome Ella to RMM and look forward to seeing her contribution to our projects.
