Located in West Wānaka and nestled amongst established Kanuka Forest, the site has 360° views of Rocky Mountain, Cattle Flat, Lake Wānaka, Paddock Bay and Roy’s Peak. The existing topography and vegetation of the site provided many design opportunities (and challenges).
The design vision for this stunning property was to create beautiful yet subtle spaces to enjoy the extraordinary surroundings and views. There was an emphasis on maintaining and enhancing the native vegetation and biodiversity of the site with the use of natives that are indigenous to the area. The ‘wild’ nature of this landscape was celebrated through the use of local and rustic materials.
RMM worked closely with the client to help realise their vision for this fabulous project. The resulting design is so well settled into the landscape it looks like it has always been there.
