Sophie Harrison joined RMM Landscape Architects in February 2020 after completing her studies in Landscape Architecture at Lincoln University in 2019. Her academic background, combined with her passion for culturally and ecologically sensitive design, makes her an integral part of the RMM team.

Sophie is deeply committed to creating spaces that express the cultural narrative of place, incorporating te ao Māori and tikanga principles while providing essential ecological habitats. Her work focuses on developing design solutions that respect and enhance the environment, meeting the needs of both tangata (people) and whenua (land). This holistic approach allows her to craft landscapes that are not only functional but also rich in cultural significance and biodiversity.

In 2022, Sophie relocated from her hometown of Christchurch to Queenstown, where she has embraced the opportunity to explore and engage with the region's stunning natural landscapes. This move has enriched her perspective and inspired her to integrate the unique characteristics of Queenstown's environment into her designs.

Outside of her professional endeavors, Sophie is an avid outdoor enthusiast. She enjoys a variety of activities that allow her to connect with nature, including tramping, bike packing, and running. Her love for the outdoors not only keeps her physically active but also continuously fuels her creativity and passion for landscape architecture.

Sophie's dedication to her craft, combined with her appreciation for cultural and ecological integrity, positions her as a valuable asset to RMM. Her ability to blend traditional knowledge with contemporary design practices ensures that her projects are both meaningful and sustainable. Sophie looks forward to continuing her journey with RMM, contributing to the creation of landscapes that honor the past, enrich the present, and inspire the future.

Through her thoughtful and innovative approach to landscape architecture, Sophie Harrison is committed to making a lasting impact on the places she designs, fostering connections between people, culture, and the natural world.
