Kess Aleksandrova rejoined RMM Landscape Architects in 2023, bringing a wealth of experience and expertise accumulated over years of diverse professional engagements. After several years at a large surveying consultancy and leading the landscape architecture team at a multi-disciplinary architectural start-up, Kess returns to RMM with renewed enthusiasm and a broadened perspective.
Kess gained her NZILA registration in 2019 and has since built a comprehensive portfolio that spans various facets of the landscape architecture profession. Her expertise includes public space design, high-end mixed-use developments, infill development, retirement villages, landscape assessment, master planning, contract administration, and project coordination. Her passion for good design is evident in her collaborative approach, working seamlessly with different disciplines to achieve common goals and deliver exceptional outcomes.
Kess holds a Master’s degree by thesis, completed in 2015, with her research on suburban street retrofits published in an academic journal. This academic achievement underscores her commitment to advancing the field of landscape architecture through both practice and scholarship. Her dedication to education extends to teaching the final year of Lincoln University’s Landscape Architecture programme, where she inspires and mentors the next generation of landscape architects.
Outside of her professional pursuits, Kess embraces the cottage core lifestyle. She finds joy in painting, sewing, and horse riding, as well as engaging in outdoor activities and tending to her garden. Originally from Moscow, Kess moved to New Zealand with her family in 2001 and has lived in Christchurch ever since. She is bilingual and has enjoyed a few years of classical art education during her early years in Russia.
Kess’s rich background, combined with her passion for design and education, makes her a valuable asset to the RMM team. Her diverse experience and collaborative spirit ensure that she will continue to contribute significantly to the success of RMM’s projects and the enhancement of the environments they create.
