Janine Riley joined RMM Landscape Architects' Whakatū Nelson studio in April 2022, bringing over 25 years of experience in site design and master planning across both public and private sector projects. Her extensive background includes significant work with Local Government on public and civic landscapes, environmental restoration projects, and critical infrastructure developments.

Janine's academic foundation in horticulture profoundly influences her approach to planting design. Her expertise enables her to visualize and prepare comprehensive planting documentation for a wide array of projects. From large-scale environmental restoration initiatives to detailed architectural and urban design schemes, Janine's plant design work is characterized by its depth and adaptability.

Her career has spanned multiple countries, but after time spent overseas, Janine returned to New Zealand in 1998. She has since lived and worked in Nelson for the past 22 years, during which time she has cultivated a deep understanding of the local environment and its unique challenges. Janine's commitment to sustainable and innovative landscape design has made her a valued asset to the RMM team.

In her personal life, Janine is dedicated to raising her two children, Gus and Heloise. Her role as a mother enriches her perspective on creating family-friendly and community-centered landscapes. Janine's ability to balance her professional expertise with her personal experiences allows her to design spaces that are both functional and nurturing.
