Graduate Landscape Architect BLA (Hons) Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland
Daniel Watt joined RMM Landscape Architects in January 2025, shortly after completing his Bachelor of Landscape Architecture (BLA) at Lincoln University. During his studies, he gained valuable experience as an intern in RMM’s Ōtautahi studio, where he demonstrated his motivation, passion, and talent.

Growing up in Christchurch, with the Heathcote River at his feet and the Port Hills up above, Daniel developed a strong connection to place and experienced the importance landscapes can hold for people.

This understanding of connection to place was reflected in his final year university project for Franz Josef, which focused on resilience and how sustainable small-scale urban development can be successful within highly dynamic environments. It explored innovative, place-responsive design solutions to address the range of complex, interconnected challenges faced by the town. Daniel’s excellence on this project was recognised when he was awarded the NZILA Vectorworks Landmark Student Scholarship for 2024.

At RMM, Daniel brings a fresh and forward-thinking perspective to landscape architecture. He is committed to continually pushing the boundaries of the field, always seeking to incorporate new technologies, software, materials, or construction methods to achieve the best possible outcomes. His dedication to continuous learning is matched by his meticulous attention to detail on every project.

Passionate about creating designs that connect people to place, Daniel believes in unveiling the past layers of the landscape, forming a design that celebrates the truly unique character of each site no matter the scale.

Outside of work, Daniel enjoys playing sports, especially cricket. He values being part of a team, always striving to improve and contribute to the overall success of the group.

Daniel’s combination of academic achievement, passion for innovative design, and deep connection to place make him a valuable asset to the RMM team. His work reflects his dedication to creating meaningful, sustainable landscapes that celebrate the unique character of each site.
