Milton Main Street
Milton 04
+ Info
The design for Milton’s main street aims to provide a worthwhile and lasting streetscape enhancement to the town in the form of improved physical and visual pedestrian and vehicle connections to key buildings and elements along Union Street.

The proposed design intends to develop a dynamic and cohesive streetscape character that slows through traffic while visually activating, enhancing, and increasing the amenity of the township. Design interventions include improved wayfinding, crossings, outdoor community park spaces, plazas and spaces for al-fresco dining. The use of interpretation panels provides for engagement and connection with both the region’s cultural history and attractions.

The design rationale for Milton’s main street takes cues from local, cultural and historic elements, connections, and narratives to develop a recognisable and strong streetscape character that is both inviting and memorable. Design elements will be derived from the Milton township and its surrounding District, including architectural forms and materials of existing and past buildings to reflect the local vernacular and create a strong sense of place.
