Landscape Architect BLA (Hons) Ōtautahi Christchurch
Hailey Lam joined RMM Landscape Architects in 2024, bringing with her a wealth of experience from a decade of living and working in Aotearoa.

Originally from Singapore, famously known as 'a city in a garden', Hailey has honed her skills in both intimate design studios and large multidisciplinary firms, working on projects across Southeast Asia and New Zealand. Her diverse background has equipped her with a versatile approach to landscape architecture, allowing her to adapt and thrive in various settings.

Hailey's portfolio spans a wide range of landscapes, from densely populated urban areas to expansive rural properties. Her expertise includes designing luxury hotels, residential gardens, lifestyle blocks, and retirement villages. This breadth of experience has allowed her to develop a keen eye for detail and a deep understanding of how to create harmonious spaces that cater to the needs of their users.

Hailey's journey in landscape architecture began with her studies in horticulture, which sparked a lifelong passion for plants and their role in enhancing human environments. This foundation led her to found and lead the design service at a local plant nursery, where she gained invaluable hands-on experience. Her work at the nursery cultivated a creative passion for connecting people with nature through innovative plant palettes and sustainable design practices.

At RMM, Hailey is excited to bring her unique perspective and skills to the team. She is dedicated to creating landscapes that are not only aesthetically pleasing but also functional and sustainable. Her ability to blend horticultural knowledge with design expertise allows her to craft environments that foster a deep connection between people and nature.

Outside of her professional life, Hailey enjoys nurturing her vegetable patch and berry bushes, and her plant-filled garage is a testament to her love for propagating Monsteras and other houseplants. Bilingual and always eager to learn, she also finds joy in the challenge of learning to play the piano. Hailey's multifaceted interests and dedication to continuous learning make her a dynamic and valuable member of the RMM team.
