Now retired, Peter has more than 45 years’ experience. His expertise is primarily in undertaking landscape and visual assessments, including input into Assessments of Environmental Effects to meet the requirements of the Resource Management Act. In recent years he has been particularly involved in infrastructure and renewable energy projects.

Peter has considerable experience in preparing landscape evidence and appearing as an expert witness. He has presented evidence, on projects throughout New Zealand and in Australia, at numerous council and Environment Court hearings, and before Boards of Inquiry and Special Tribunals. He is currently focusing on mentoring and peer review roles and is not carrying out new project work.

Peter has held several roles with the New Zealand Institute of Landscape Architects, including terms on the Executive Committee and representing the Institute at International Federation of Landscape Architects’ Congress meetings. He is a passionate tramper and sailor. He enjoys taking part in yacht races in Lyttelton and Akaroa harbours and in Tasman Bay, as well as cruising in the Marlborough Sounds and on the Southern Lakes.
