Ben has over 13 years’ experience working in both New Zealand and the United Kingdom. He started his first role as a graduate landscape architect with RMM in Christchurch back in 2007, prior to embarking on his ‘Big OE’, where he gained experience working primarily on inner-city developments in London in the build-up to the 2012 Olympic Games.
Ben returned to New Zealand in 2013 and RMM in 2018, where he led the establishment of our Auckland studio. In 2021 Ben made the move south to re-join our Christchurch team, where he continues to lead a variety of private and public realm projects around Aotearoa.
Ben has experience across the multiple facets of landscape architecture, including design, construction documentation, landscape and visual assessment, and contract observation and administration. Ben has played a key role in designing and delivering a multitude of complex projects including recreational reserves, coastal walkways, play spaces, high-density residential developments, social housing, retirement villages, and educational and health care facilities.
In his spare time, Ben enjoys getting out into the landscape - be it trail running, snowboarding, tramping or camping, and getting stuck into the garden at home.

- Moves Ideally by bike – either on his vintage 1987 Avanti road bike, or his Cannondale SuperSix.
- Plays Guitar and piano, both averagely, when no one is within earshot.

- Listens An eclectic mix of most things new and old, ranging from folk music to dance music.
- Reads Biographies and fiction classics.
- Drinks Whatever feels right for the time and place - be it made from bean, grain or grape.
- Eats Anywhere new and anything daring, with Bar Yoku being a Christchurch favourite.
- Wishes For less car-oriented NZ cities.
